The memory clinic has suggested Trazadone for my dad but I’m not sure. He lives alone now because my mum went into residential care a few months ago. I asked for advice about him constantly ringing in the evenings because he can’t remember where my mum is and Trazadone for dealing with sundowning was suggested. He seems to be particularly confused in the evenings but not especially agitated, no more than could be expected when he doesn’t know where anyone is. He’s been on setralene for a while and this seems to have kept him fairly steady and improved his mood. He doesn’t seem to have any problems sleeping. I’m just not sure that Trazadone will do much for him other than make him even sleepier. He already sleeps a lot. I worry that he it might even make him more likely to fall or have an accident. He’s not on memantine as that seemed to cause chronic constipation. I’m wondering whether we should give that another go first. It’s all so confusing as he seems ok much of the time. He’s never aggressive although he could be verbally aggressive before the Sertralene. We don’t get any of that now. Anyway, just wondering whether anyone had any experience with it. Thanks.
